Hi, I’m Mikael Jasin.
I’ve been working in coffee for more than 12 years — I started in Melbourne while studying marketing, first cleaning tables and washing dishes, and slowly worked my way up to the espresso machine. Those early years in Australia shaped my vision of coffee: not just as a drink, but as a story of people, places, and passion.
In 2017, I returned to Indonesia to join Common Grounds Coffee Roasters and later founded So So Good Coffee Company. For me, coffee is both a craft and a mission — a way to connect farmers, baristas, and guests through mindful preparation and shared experience.
I first represented Indonesia at the World Barista Championship in 2019, finishing 4th — the highest placement ever for my country at that time. In 2024, after years of competing, failing, learning, and rebuilding, I finally achieved my dream and became the World Barista Champion in Busan, South Korea. That moment was not just about winning, but about proving that Indonesian coffee and baristas can stand proudly on the world stage.
Today, alongside my role as Chief of Coffee Innovation at Fore Coffee, I continue to push the boundaries of flavor, sustainability, and creativity. Coffee is not only my profession — it’s my way of inspiring people, changing communities, and celebrating life in every cup.
