In 2016, two of Berlin’s most iconic cafés — Silo and Father Carpenter — made a bold move. They joined forces to create Fjord Coffee Roasters, a roastery with a clear mission: to seek out and reveal the rarest and most unique coffee flavors.
From the very beginning, Fjord has focused on discovering rare and unique coffee flavors, building direct trade relationships with producers in countries such as Brazil, El Salvador, and Colombia. They use a unique roasting approach that combines conduction and convection methods on their cast-iron Probat roaster, allowing them to highlight the distinctive qualities of each bean.
The company is also known for its experimentation and close collaboration with farmers to create new and unusual flavor profiles. This not only enriches the flavor spectrum but also increases value for the farmers, as their coffee lots become rarer and more sought after.
Fjord Coffee Roasters actively contributes to the development of coffee culture by offering tailored solutions for offices and cafés, as well as subscriptions and educational resources for coffee enthusiasts. Their product range includes filter coffee, espresso, and special editions that reflect the diversity of regions, processing methods, and seasonal characteristics.
Located in the Marzahn district of East Berlin, the Fjord roastery is not open to the general public, but visits are available by appointment. The company continues to strive for excellence, combining a deep passion for coffee with a responsible approach to production and sustainable development.
